I have been exploring Arts & Crafts since I was a child. I have taken many formal Art classes in Drawing, Painting, and Sculpting through the years. Recently I have been learning through books, online videos, and from my peers, and exploration. I enjoy working with different mediums, and incorporating items found in nature. When sculpting I enjoy using polymer clay. It comes in many colors. I can do color blending for fun techniques and making my own colors. I make Jeweery pendant and beads, figurines, art boxes with a seascape or fairy fantasy designs. The polymer clay is soft and nice to work with once conditioned. It cures at a low temperature in an oven. I’ve been learning and working with Silver Clay and hope to have some work out with that this year.
I do a lot of beading; I find it meditative. I use glass seed beads in my 3D hummingbirds and when making beaded bezels. I also like to use freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, Stirling Silver, fire line thread, and silk. I also use sea glass, different Stones, and shells but mostly sand dollars. The sand dollars I hand paint and or hand dye then I use a product that takes 3 coats on each side of the sand dollar curing in between each coat. Then I use them when making jewelry, art boxes, magnets and more…
Wood working is a fun process. Drawing the design on the board, fitting to the scroll saw table, and cutting the design. Then sanding all around using many ways to get into all the areas. Finishing, I apply clear coating to protect in the weather. I make them into mobiles. Doing the wire work and beading.
You can usually find me at the Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Festival in May, the Forestville Youth Park BBQ in June, and the Cazadero, Monte Rio, and Occidental Holiday Craft Fairs.
You can always find my designs at the Artisans’’ Co-Op in Bodega.
